We are living in a moment burgeoning with generative amalgamations. From prose poems to visual essays, from multigenre flash fiction to multimedia art, blended works are everywhere. With the goal of sharing the rich history and promising future of these dynamic mixtures, we offer you the chance to join us in compiling an archive of melanges.
A “melange” is our term for a work of art or literature that combines multiple forms, genres, and/or media.
Melange: A Journal of Prose Poetry and the Arts is an international publication run by Princeton students that publishes melanges, translations of melanges, and rigorous scholarly essays about melanges. Every creative soul may submit; whether you are affiliated with Princeton or not, whether you are a young scholar or a professor emeritus, whether you are in academia or not, your thoughts are welcome.
Founded in 2024 as a graduate student organization by Sylvia Onorato and Dustin Chen, Melange extends membership and editorial positions to Princeton undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs, cultivating an inclusive community. In addition to publication opportunities and practical experience running a journal, we offer creative workshops, guest lectures, reading groups, and semesterly projects promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
